Resources
Resources Available:

The library is committed to community outreach and collaboration, and no club affiliation or
nationality is required to join. Organizations in Ticino such as American Women of Ticino
(
AWOT), the International Women’s Club of Lugano ( IWCL ), The Big Ben Club and St. Edward’
s Anglican Church regularly publish information about Book Nook activities in their monthly
newsletters.

There is also a resource section in the library with material available on these and other
organizations, including American Citizens Abroad (
ACA) and Federation of American Women’s
Clubs Overseas (
FAWCO). In 2003, we were asked to become part of an ‘Educational
Resource Station Network’  by the U.S. Embassy in Bern. The intent is to provide in-depth
material for anyone interested in studying in the United States, including college guides, and
the material is updated regularly.

For those interested in learning English, the Book Nook has a wide range of materials
available. Videos, DVDs and audio books are a great way to develop proficiency and sharpen
listening skills. For children of all ages, there is a whole section of books and videos – and
there is a play area for kids that visit the library with their parents.  Ticino’s elementary level
after-school English program ‘Together with English’ has used the Book Nook as a resource
center for it’s teachers.
